Right now, turtles are dying in the hundreds, thousands.
Why? For two reasons:
- The feeding grounds of the turtles have been destroyed from the flood-waters and drastic weather changes
- A deadly disease is going around - the fibropapilloma virus (FP).This disease is especially dangerous to baby turtles.
As the people at the World Wildlife Fund say - "these turtles are falling sick and dying to a killer they cannot see, understand or avoid."
